Bee keeping clubs are somewhere you can go to gain experience and pick up knowledge about bee keeping. Most clubs have a winter program of lectures covering different aspects of the hobby and a summer program of visiting apiaries to gain practical experience. There will also be keen bee keepers there to talk over your problems and give you advice and some clubs will even provide mentors to give you one to one help. You will find the level of overall activity does vary from club to club, some catering for beginners, more than others.
Most clubs are affiliated to the BBKA ( British Bee Keeping Association ) so when joining local clubs at certain membership levels, you also become a member of the BBKA. This provides you with public liability insurance for your bee keeping activities as well as product liability for simple hive products, useful if you are going to sell your honey.
